Trip to San Diego Zoo

We recently spent the night in Carlsbad with my mom and Dave and then set off to the zoo the next morning. Jax had a cold so he wasn't that much fun to be with, let me tell you...or if you'd rather, you could ask one of the hundreds of other zoo-goers that day that had to endure Jax's tantrum in front of the giraffe exhibit. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to give you a play-by-play of the whole sordid affair! Sheeesh!
Anyway, we wound up having a really great day. Pictures were difficult to take with Jax behaving so poorly but we managed to get a few. The animals were beautiful and so was the weather. Mom and I had a nice glass of wine with our lunch in the Treehouse, high above the rest of the zoo. We ate at Albert's - an open air, higher-end restaurant while listening to the waterfalls outside the window and feeling the refreshing coastal breezes blow thru our hair. Sounds nice, huh? Unfortunately, we also heard everyone elses kids screaming, complaining, laughing and squealing the whole time. Jax was actually quiet and well-behaved, thanks to the gazillion bags of oyster crackers we kept feeding him. It was a peaceful moment in an otherwise
Remember him?

Just thought I'd throw one his baby pics in for fun. This was taken at our hotel in Moscow, on our 2nd day there. He was having so much fun up on the bed, rolling around and playing with the pillows. I can't believe it's been almost a year and half since then - he's growing up so fast.................too fast................sigh...............tears........................
OUCH!!!!

One week, on a Monday, Jax was bitten on his arm. I thought it was a bad one, until Tuesday rolled around....the same little girl who bit him on Monday, did this to his back on Tuesday! He had nightmares about it, waking up and crying, saying, "Emee (Emily) bit me....". I felt so sorry for him! It's really tough being a two year-old. Lord knows he's chewed on his share of classmates this year but it's still so hard to see your little one with a "boo-boo" like this. It scabbed over and was there for over two weeks! I warned his teachers to really watch him after that. They did, but not close enough. He bit three people last week (and got 2 time-outs at school)! Little stinker!

The Egg Hunt!

The kids had a ball and after all the eggs had been found, re-hidden, found, re-hidden and then found again, we moved onto bubbles. Darren is our bubble master - it's a thankless job! He is so great with the kids, always taking them on long walks in the wagon and playing with them outside. He's such a great father and uncle (and not too bad in the husband department, either). We all had such a fun day!
Easter - 2007
We were sooooo happy to have Shelly, Colin and Riley over for Easter this year, especially when it came time for the Easter Bunny to come! The kids had so much fun together; it was a perfect weekend! We missed Uncle Mike and Grandpa Dave who couldn't be with us this year, but Darren, Shelly, Grandma and I made sure the kids had plenty of fun.
I Just LLOOVVEE Home Improvement!
In the past four months, we have done some major home improvement projects, including the kitchen! We are very, very happy with the end result however living with no kitchen was a challenge. My dad came out to visit during the most intense week of chaos, dust and noise and when it came time for him to go back home, he literally RAN for the plane!!!! Poor guy! It was awful! Anyway, the kitchen is beautiful and it was well worth the difficult week.
If anyone is considering a kitchen remodel in the near future, do NOT use anyone but the incredible guy/company we used. He was so wonderful and his work, employees and ethics were outstanding. He even brought us all lunch one day, which we dined on while in bed (or the dining room as it was known during the remodel). Here are some pics of Jax eating his first In N Out Burger (courtesy of Bob the kitchen-guy). He basically ate the lettuce, bun and cheese (not too crazy about the burger....maybe if it was a Boca he'd like it better).
Tonsils and Adenoids - Bye-Bye!
A lot has happened since I last updated the blog. For starters, Jax had his tonsils and adenoids out in March. For those of you who don't speak with us on a regular basis, it was quite an ordeal. Jax did better than his mom, though. He was a trooper and got thru it all just fine. Now, it's tubes for his ears. We're trying to wait until after summer because we want to start him in swim lessons but he's fighting another cold right now and he's been saying his right ear is hurting him. We're going to the ENT tomorrow for another check. I'll keep you posted!

Where have we been?
I've been getting more than a few complaints regarding my lack of attention to Jax's blog and I want you all to know how terribly I feel about not keeping you all updated with Jaxon's life!!! To say "I've been busy" is an understatement, however NOT an excuse. The truth is, I'm starting to feel my birthdays and this old nag is getting tired. Our evening routine has changed and Jax now stays up very late (much to my dismay) which takes away all my blog-updating time (as well as all my reading time, my movie-watching time, etc.). Luckily, he usually falls asleep right before 10 PM, thank God, because LOST starts at 10:00 on Wednesday nights and I am absolutely addicted to that show! Anyway, sorry for our absence; I promise to be better about the updates. Hope 2007 has been as blessed a year for you as it has been for the Wild family....
***I'm tired - it's 10:32 PM. I have MANY pics to post but it'll have to wait 'til tomorrow night. Sorry for the suspense - I hate to build things up just to show you a bunch of silly pics but that's the way it is. Sleep is calling to me, loudly!!! ***
